Pune, August 28, 2025 – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted intense rainfall across multiple districts of Maharashtra over the next 24 hours. Despite a slight slowdown in monsoon winds, a low-pressure belt over the Bay of Bengal has created favourable conditions for heavy showers across the state.

According to IMD, an orange alert has been issued for ghat regions, where heavy to very heavy rain is expected along with thunderstorms, lightning and wind speeds reaching 30–40 km/h between August 27 and 31.

Key districts likely to witness intense rainfall include Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, and Pune’s ghat areas, while Raigad, Ratnagiri and Palghar in Konkan are expected to receive moderate to heavy showers. Visibility in hilly regions may reduce significantly, and citizens are advised to exercise caution while travelling.

Meanwhile, Mumbai and surrounding suburbs may see lighter rainfall compared to previous weeks. Increased humidity and temperature fluctuations are expected across coastal areas, raising concerns about weather-related health issues.

As monsoon enters its final phase, weather conditions during the Ganeshotsav period will continue to bring intermittent showers across Maharashtra.
