Maharashtra Weather Update: Heavy Rains Expected Across the State This Week, Yellow Alert Issued for Several Districts
This week, Maharashtra is likely to experience heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds. The meteorological department has predicted intense showers, especially in the Vidarbha and Marathwada regions, with a yellow alert issued for various districts, including Pune.
According to the weather forecast, starting from Monday, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Konkan, and parts of Central Maharashtra will witness heavy rains, with thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds. This weather pattern is expected to affect the Kharif crops in these regions.
The Pune Meteorological Department reported the development of a cyclonic circulation over South Myanmar and the Bay of Bengal, leading to the formation of a low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal. The intensity of this system has increased, and it is moving towards Maharashtra, triggering the possibility of rainfall over the next few days.
Conditions are becoming favorable for the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from regions like West Rajasthan and Kutch. As a result, there is a high chance of rainfall in Konkan, Goa, parts of Central Maharashtra, and several areas in Vidarbha and Marathwada.
For the next three days, most parts of the state are expected to receive rain. On Tuesday, districts like Raigad, Parbhani, Hingoli, and Nanded are likely to experience heavy downpours, followed by Palghar, Thane, and Pune on Wednesday, and Nashik on Thursday. These regions have been placed under a yellow alert due to the expected heavy rains and thunderstorms.
In addition to Konkan and South Maharashtra, districts like Aurangabad, Jalna, Yavatmal, and parts of Vidarbha, excluding Gadchiroli, are also expected to see thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds of 30-40 km/h, along with light to moderate rainfall.
Districts such as Raigad, Sindhudurg, Ahmednagar, Pune, Solapur, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Osmanabad, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli may experience intense rains with thunderstorms and strong winds on September 23. The rest of the state is expected to receive moderate rainfall with strong winds.
From September 24 to 26, thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy rainfall are likely across most districts, prompting the issuance of yellow alerts for these regions.
In Pune, the weather is expected to remain partly cloudy today and tomorrow, with chances of light rainfall in the afternoon and evening. Between September 24 and 26, Pune is likely to experience light to moderate rainfall under generally cloudy skies.
