MLA Mahesh Landge Resolves Chikhali Property Tax Issue, Residents Pledge Support for Re-election

In a significant move for the residents of Chikhali-Talawade, MLA Mahesh Landge has resolved the long-standing issue of the excessive property tax (Shashti Kar) in the area, waiving off taxes worth crores that had previously burdened the community. Following this resolution, locals have expressed their intent to re-elect him, declaring MLA Landge as the leader who can address their concerns effectively.

Landge, the official candidate of the BJP-Shiv Sena-NCP-RPI MahaYuti alliance for the Bhosari constituency, has seen enthusiastic support during his campaign visits to Chikhali, Morevasti, and Patilnagar. During these visits, former corporators, alliance leaders, villagers, and numerous supporters joined him, marking a strong turnout in his favor.

The campaign kicked off at Sane Chowk in Chikhali, with Landge visiting multiple neighborhoods, including Morevasti, Tower Line, Methe Vasti, Sane Colony, and Nair Colony. Residents welcomed him warmly in each society, with women performing traditional rituals, while young and old alike greeted him enthusiastically.

The property tax issue had been a major challenge in Chikhali, where tax rates were set three times higher than standard property taxes, adding a significant financial strain. This tax was mandatory before residents could pay their regular property tax, resulting in rising arrears. Through sustained efforts, MLA Landge successfully eliminated this tax, easing the financial load and creating a positive outlook among residents.

Development efforts are advancing in Chikhali under Landge’s leadership, including the completion of three major roads in the Development Plan (DP) and the ongoing construction of three more. These projects promise to alleviate traffic congestion in the area. Additionally, a new water purification plant now meets the water needs of Chikhali’s expanding population, and the area has been cleared of waste, further building public support for Landge. Residents have pledged to support his re-election with a decisive margin.

MLA Landge’s Vision for Education

“India’s first Santpeeth has been established in Chikhali. The area now boasts a Samvidhan Bhavan, an international-standard library, a government engineering college, and an IIM campus. Looking forward, we are pushing for a National Academy of Arts, a competitive exam guidance center, and a skill development training center, with the goal of making Chikhali an ‘Education Hub’,” said MLA Mahesh Landge, MahaYuti candidate for the Bhosari constituency.
