  • Accused delivers all land dispute orders in favour of his clients

A man identified as Morris Samuel Christian was detained on Tuesday for allegedly running a fake court and issuing fraudulent orders related to land disputes in Gujarat. The scheme was exposed when a case reached the Ahmedabad City Civil Court, following a police complaint.

Since 2019, Christian had been passing fake ‘judgements,’ particularly in land deals in the Gandhinagar area. He established a fake mediation center in Ahmedabad and delivered false orders, even posing as a judge. According to the police, Christian tricked numerous individuals into believing they were involved in legitimate court proceedings, always delivering favorable verdicts for his clients.

Christian, a lawyer by profession, targeted victims entangled in land disputes, offering them swift resolutions for hefty fees. His associates, posing as court personnel, further enhanced the illusion of an authentic legal process.

One of the cases involved a dispute over government land in the Paldi area, where Christian falsely claimed he was an official government-appointed mediator. He issued a fake order in favor of his client, instructing the collector to include the client’s name in the revenue records.

The scam was uncovered after Hardik Desai, Registrar of City Civil Court in Bhadra, filed a complaint against Christian at the Karanj Police Station in Ahmedabad. Christian has been arrested and faces charges under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) for impersonation, forgery and fraud.

Further investigation is ongoing as authorities work to uncover the full extent of Christian’s operations.
