Mardaani 2 inspiration IPS officer ignites row as video shows fire tender 'Supplying Water' to her home
Viral video sparks controversy, police clarify LPG leak response at IPS officer Archana Tyagi’s residence.
After a video went viral purportedly showing a fire tender at the residence of senior Maharashtra cadre IPS officer Archana Tyagi in Dehradun to allegedly supply water, the Uttarakhand police released a detailed note stating that the vehicle had gone to “control” a leakage from an LPG cylinder.
The video, shot in June but surfaced recently, shows a fire engine outside Tyagi’s residence on the busy EC Road. A pipe leading into the premises is visible and a woman in the video questions whether the fire tender is supplying water to an IPS officer’s home. Bystanders are heard questioning the police, who do not respond.
Dehradun has experienced high temperatures this year, leading to severe water shortages in several residential areas, including Tyagi’s neighborhood.
Netizens reacted angrily to the video, raising concerns about the alleged misuse of authority. In response, the senior superintendent of police (SSP), clarified the situation. He stated that on June 15, the fire station received a complaint about an LPG gas leak, and the vehicle was dispatched within minutes to address the issue. The team sprayed water at the LPG cylinder to control the situation.
IPS officer Archana Tyagi, originally from Dehradun, used to teach at a local college before clearing the UPSC civil services examination. The Bollywood film Mardaani 2 was inspired by her life.
