Delhiwala & Sons, tasked with managing the disposal of deceased animals under the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s Veterinary Department, has been embroiled in controversy. The company stands accused of misappropriating Rs 1,22,000 through falsified work receipts, leading to their blacklisting and impending legal action.
Initially, dead animals were interred in open spaces at & Block, Gawli Matha, within the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) area in Bhosari. However, following the area’s transfer to MIDC and subsequent approvals from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), animal incineration commenced at Naidu Pond using PMC’s large animal incinerator. Each cremation incurred a fee of Rs 73,000, paid through Delhiwala & Sons, with receipts submitted to the PCMC’s Veterinary Department.
The situation came to light when Advocate Manish Kamble raised concerns with the PCMC, prompting an audit of the cremation charge receipts. The PMC’s Health Department investigation revealed a significant anomaly: receipts from Delhiwala & Sons did not align with PMC’s records, indicating a discrepancy of Rs 1,22,000.

Following these findings and subsequent failure by Delhiwala & Sons to provide satisfactory explanations despite three notices, PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh took decisive action. The organization has been blacklisted, effectively barring them from further contracts, and legal proceedings are set to ensue against the company’s director.
This incident highlights the importance of transparency and accountability in municipal operations, especially concerning public funds and services.
