January 29 was a significant day for Pimpri Chinchwad women who are a part of Pinchi group, Pinchi as we all know stands for Pimpri Chinchwad. It was significant because Pinchi’s founder Poonam Pardeshi and her team Rekha Kalbhor, Rima Pardeshi and Anjali Bhagat came up with a unique concept of distributing Menstrual cups as ‘Vaan’ on their ‘Pinchikisankrant’ function. Pinchi was successful in breaking the barriers toward fear, shyness, discomfort related to Menstrual Hygiene, an open discussion pertaining to period issues, pains were held in the presence of renowned gynecologist Dr. Shalaka Shimpi who cleared doubts and concerns of all those who were present at the event.

Pinchi is also conducting Live sessions with doctors to educate women on menstrual hygiene and usage of menstrual cups. Tampons, Pads, Panty liners along with their packaging, individual wrapping etc generate tonnes of waste per year in fact pads are 90% plastic. Menstrual cups are the sustainable eco-friendly period partner, not only that using menstrual cups are cost effective. Rohit Chavan, owner of Oitary collaborated with Pinchi to distribute menstrual cups.

“We all know Haldi kumkum and its importance. 29th January was a significant day for pinchi women. Till today, such haldi kumkum has not been celebrated. In the Haldi Kumkum program, we distribute the ‘vaan’ related to Saubhagya. We often forget to give priority to our own health. Many of us are unaware of Menstrual Cups? I switched to it and it’s superb you also try and we keep thinking this time it didn’t happen next time I will definitely. It has happened to me too, that has been my experience, so we decided to distribute menstural cups as ‘Vaan’. I am proud to say that Pinchi was successful in breaking the barriers,” said Poonam Pardeshi, Founder, Pinchi Group, in Pimpri Chinchwad.
