Meta Platforms’ Instagram encountered a widespread outage, leaving thousands of users unable to access the photo-sharing platform, according to outage tracking website Downdetector.com.

Data from the website revealed that at its peak, more than 5,000 users reported difficulties accessing the platform in the United States. The outage was characterized by login issues, app malfunctioning, and server connection problems, with 70 percent reporting login issues, 19 percent facing app problems, and 11 percent encountering server connection issues.

This outage, reminiscent of an earlier incident this month, highlights the platform’s significance in daily communication and content sharing.

On March 5, both Facebook and Instagram experienced a worldwide outage, with users reporting login issues and involuntary logouts. Some users also faced difficulties refreshing Instagram pages and were prompted to change passwords.

The outage underscores the widespread reliance on social media platforms like Instagram for communication, networking, and content sharing.

Users turned to alternative platforms to express frustration and seek updates on service restoration.

Meta Platforms, the parent company of Instagram, has not issued an official statement regarding the cause or duration of the recent outage.
