Minor Girl Dies After Allegedly Being Forced to Drink Pesticide by School Clerk in Pune Rural

A minor girl (14) from Pune district was alleged to drink pesticide by a clerk in her school located in Pune rural. She reportedly resisted his advances when he allegedly tried to sexually harass her on July 28. She died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Solapur on Wednesday.

A first information report (FIR) was lodged in this case at a police station of Pune rural police, based on victim’s statement. Subsequently, the police had arrested the school clerk on July 28 itself.

Police said the accused went to the girl’s home. She resisted him as he allegedly tried to sexually harass her. The accused then allegedly forced her to drink pesticide. After finding out about the incident, her family members admitted her to a hospital in Solapur for treatment.

An FIR was lodged against the accused on charges of attempt to murder and relevant sections of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. After her death, police said they have invoked section 103 (murder) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the accused. Investigations are ongoing.
