A video of MLA Sanjay Gaikwad cutting a cake with a sword at his son’s birthday celebration in Buldhana has gone viral, sparking a heated debate. The incident has raised questions about the misuse of power and the symbolism of masculinity.

Gaikwad, an MLA from the Shinde group, was seen cutting a cake with a sword on stage and feeding it to his wife and children. While he claims it was a harmless act, opposition leaders have strongly condemned his actions.

Opposition leader Vijay Wadettiwar criticized Gaikwad, saying that MLAs from the Shinde group feel they have the freedom to do as they please, thanks to their support of the Chief Minister. Wadettiwar argued that displaying and using swords in such a manner is against the rules and undermines the symbolism of bravery and Swarajya.

Gaikwad defended his actions, stating that cutting a cake with a sword is not a crime and that it’s a symbol of masculinity. He drew parallels with policemen displaying swords during parades and fencers competing in the Olympics.

However, the incident has raised concerns about the double standards applied to politicians and common citizens. If a common person were to cut a cake with a sword, they would likely face charges under the Arms Act.

The Buldhana police are yet to take action against Gaikwad, leaving many to wonder if he will face any consequences for his actions
