Monsoon Safety Alert: Tourist Entry Banned at Rajgad, Torna, Madhe Ghat, and Nearby Dams Until September 30

Monsoon Safety Alert: Tourist Entry Banned at Rajgad, Torna, Madhe Ghat, and Nearby Dams Until September 30
With the monsoon intensifying and public safety at risk, authorities have imposed a temporary ban on tourism at popular spots like Rajgad Fort, Torna Fort, Madhe Ghat, and the areas surrounding Panshet, Varasgaon, and Gunjavani dams. The restriction, in effect from June 22 to September 30, 2025, was officially announced by Dr. Vikas Kharat, Sub-Divisional Officer of Bhor, to prevent accidents and ensure safety.
Why the Ban?
Heavy rainfall, dense fog, and slippery conditions have turned these scenic locations into potential danger zones. With rising incidents of landslides and difficult terrain, the administration is taking no chances. The order has been enforced under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, and Section 163 of the Indian Civil Protection Code, 2023.
Activities Prohibited Until September 30
Visitors are barred from:
- Swimming in rivers, waterfalls, or dam overflows
- Climbing or sitting under waterfalls, due to sudden water surges
- Taking selfies or videos in risky or slippery areas
- Parking on narrow hill roads, which may block emergency access
- Consuming or carrying alcohol in public or natural spaces
- Littering with bottles, plastic, or non-biodegradable waste
- Playing loud music, which disturbs wildlife and other visitors
- Adventure sports like rappelling, especially in Madhe Ghat
Strict Enforcement on Ground
Local vigilance has been strengthened. At Pal Khurd—the gateway village to Rajgad and Torna—heritage watchmen Bapu Sable, Pawan Sakhare, Akash Kachare, and Vishal Pilavare are monitoring tourist activity with support from disaster management and forest department officials.
Tourists are urged to respect these measures, prioritise safety, and postpone visits until the monsoon season ends.
