On Thursday, February 29, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) approved the provision of Rs 6,728.33 crore for the building of eight sections of the NH-913 (Frontier Highway) in Arunachal Pradesh.

These sections, which add up to 305.50 km, will be built as Intermediate Lane Roads using the Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) mode, according to an official statement.

Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, emphasized the importance of this development in improving connectivity to border areas and promoting socio economic development.

Gadkari emphasized that the building of the Frontier Highway is anticipated to promote reverse habitation toward Arunachal Pradesh’s border regions while reducing migration.

Additionally, Gadkari emphasized the critical role that these frontier highway segments will play in establishing vital road infrastructure, connecting major river basins, and enabling the development of multiple hydropower projects in the state.

He pointed out that this mostly greenfield route will link sparsely populated Upper Arunachal areas, which have a lot of potential for tourism, and that increased traffic is anticipated in the future due to this growing industry.

In a subsequent update, Gadkari said that the ministry had sanctioned Rs 3,549.48 crore for the building and bolstering of several National Highways projects in Madhya Pradesh, indicating the government’s continued dedication to enhancing the nation’s transportation network.
