Moshi Housing Society Federation has time and again complained about the existing garbage depot, Moshi, to be replaced with waste management power plant.

One of the members of the federation, Pratap Bamne, while complaining about the “intolerable odour” due to the garbage depot, he said, “For the last one year, I have been facing this problem – in fact, there are multiple societies who are facing this trouble. I am hoping that in coming year, we will get rid of this problem.”

According to the information obtained from Sanjivan Sangle, the President of Moshi Housing Society Federation, he said, “Since 2016, we have been following up on this issue. We are demanding to install waste energy plant, which will generate electricity from the waste in our area, replacing the current garbage depot. However, we have also escalated our demands to MLA Mahesh Landge, and he has positively taken a step to get the proposal approved from the standing commitee of PCMC in 2017.”

Speaking to Sanjay Kulkarni, environmental officer PCMC, he said, “Half of the work of installing ‘Energy from waste’ plant is done. One phase of the work has ended. We are under process to cover second phase of installation. We will get done with the complete project in coming fifteen months.”
