The vehicles were deployed in the armoury of Pimpri Chinchwad Police on the first of January 2020, and since then, the vehicles have been on regular duty. The reports provided by the ACP to Pune Pulse state that in the month of October, the Police collected a massive fine of 9, 62, 000 rupees for over speeding from the violators.

ACP Shrikant Disale while talking to Pune Pulse, said, “The growing accidents on the highway are caused mainly because of over speeding of the vehicle. The intercept system, which are deployed on any location of National Highway of Mumbai Pune, has helped us track the violators. The system is designed to generate e-challan automatically, soon after it catches the vehicle for over speeding. We want to urge people to avoid over speeding on the highway, as fatal accidents are on the rise.”

The vehicles and the system tracks the over speeding vehicles through a speed gun fixed in the system, and once caught, it redirects to issuing automated e-challan on the registered phone number of the vehicle owner. The system has proved beneficial for the Police amidst the growing accidents on highway, mainly caused due to over speeding.
