Divisional commissioner asks to expedite development work in Pune

In view of resolving all traffic related issues caused by road development work in Pune district, PUMTA – Pune Union of Metropolitan Transport Authority was formed at the Council Hall recently in Pune. Fourth joint meeting was held under the guidance of divisional commissioner Saurabh Rao. It was attended by Vikram Kumar, PMC Commissioner, Shravan Hardikar, PCMC commissioner, Director PMPML Dr Rajendra Jagtap, Pune Smart City Development Corporation CEO Dr Sanjay Kolte, Maharashtra Metro Rail CEO Ramnath Subramaniam, PWD chief engineer S S Salunkhe, PMRDA Suhas  Diwase and mny senior officers were present.  

Rao in his speech said that both Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad are rapidly developing and hence strengthening public transport is of utmost importance. Both the Corporations have tremendous responsibility of providing favourable facilities.

Public transport service must be upgraded and strengthened in order to ensure that more and more citizens avail the facility of public transport facilities. Suggestions and action plans on working out effectively must be chalked out by consulting Local NGO’s and private agencies. Progress review of Mahametro Corridor 1 – Nigdi Katraj, Chandani chowk to Wagholi, Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar, Shivajinagar to Hadapsar, Hinjawadi to Chakan, Mahametro Corridor 2 Warje to Swargate, Wagholi to Hinjawadi, Chandani chowk To Hinjawadi were taken during the meeting.Discussion was also held on finalising the draft on Savitribai Phule Pune University bridge plan was held. It was also discussed that the final mapping of the two floor flyover must be shortly submitted to PMC and state government.Â
