Mother Daughter Duo Makes Pune Proud By Winning Triple Crown At Doon Smashers Masters Badminton Tournament
It is indeed a great moment of pride as Pune based Noopur Sahasrabudhe and her mother Manjusha Sahasrabudhe recently won Triple Crown at Doon Smashers Masters Badminton Tournament held in Dehradun.
A bond between mother and daughter is special. And the same has been carried over by this mother Daughter Duo in sports too. Speaking about the bond, Noopur said, “A mother-daughter pairing in women’s doubles badminton is a rare sight. Our deep bond, shared history, and unique dynamic create a powerful synergy on the court. This partnership not only showcases our strength but also highlights the potential for mentorship and legacy in sports.”
Manjusha Sahasrabudhe is a seasoned masters badminton player who has represented India multiple times, a BWF Asia Accredited Referee, travels globally to conduct tournaments and is a badminton coach in Pune. She has represented India at the prestigious Senior World Badminton Championships over five times, earning medals in each appearance.
Noopur Sahasrabudhe has been playing badminton since school and has represented Maharashtra in Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles events in the past. “In recent years along with badminton, I have also been training for triathlons under the guidance of Shiv Chhatrapati Awardee and 38-time Full Ironman finisher, Dr. Kaustubh Radkar. Notably, I was the only Indian female to qualify for and finish the prestigious IRONMAN World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, in October 2023,” she said.
Recent Triple Crown Win at Doon Smashers Masters Badminton Tournament
The Doon Smashers Masters Badminton Tournament held in Dehradun from September 20-22, is a national-level event. Noopur further said, “This accomplishment is particularly noteworthy as we are the only mother-daughter pair from Maharashtra to win at a national badminton tournament. My sincere gratitude to our coach Sameer Bhagwat, and the Pune District Metropolitan Badminton Association (PDMBA) for their unwavering support and guidance.”
