Pune:

The residents in Wagholi are putting up with garbage piles on several roads in the locality. They blame the negligence of the Pune Municipal Corporation for their sad state and say they are left to deal with unpleasant odour and filthy roads.

Several complaints raised on the PMC portal have gone unattended.

“No work has been done regarding this issue. Garbage is piling up on Lohegaon road, Nagar road and all the internal roads in Wagholi. Pune Municipal Corporation gives a verbal response but no action has been taken till now. We are facing this problem for more than 15 days now,” said Sanjeev Patil of Wagholi Housing Societies Association. (WHSA).

The residents allege that PMC is closing the complaints on the web portal without solving the issue.

“We have instructed local officials to look into the issue. The complaints registered on PMC web portals are being looked into with utmost priority. I will follow up on the issue,” said Asha Raut, head of the department, solid waste management department, PMC.

“PMC keeps telling us that they have manpower shortage,” added Patil.

“We have taken up the issue with PMC many times. The staff members do not clear the garbage on a regular basis and residents are suffering. The monsoon season is approaching and PMC must act swiftly,” said Nitin Kumar Jain, a resident of Wagholi.Show quoted text
