Several gym owners, sports centers operating across the city are facing financial crisis due to prolonged closure of these establishments.
The matter was raised with Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray, Shiv Sena Member of Parliament from Maval constituency Shrirang Barne urging him to allow gymnasiums, sports centers to operate.

In his letter submitted to the CM office, it stated that gyms have been shut for more than six months now. But since most of the places are taken on rent by the owners, hefty electricity bills, paying salaries to the employees has become a tough task for such gym owners. I urged that in the unlock phase gym owners should be allowed to begin with their operations. Gym Owners Association from Pimpri Chinchwad city met MP Shrirang Barne on October 4 and apprised him of the financial crisis they are undergoing.
“Now that restaurants, malls, bars and other retail outlets are allowed to open then why not gyms ? I have urged the CM to allow gyms to operate too in the unlocking phase,” he added.
