MP Supriya Sule Urges Railways To Extend Daund-Hadapsar DEMU Service To Pune Railway Station
Baramati constituency Member Of Parliament Supriya Sule has called on the Pune Railway administration to extend the service of train number 01522 DEMU, which currently terminates at Hadapsar, to Pune station. The train, which departs from Daund at 6:00 AM, has been short-terminated at Hadapsar since March 6, 2023, causing significant inconvenience to passengers.
An active resident from the area has been raising various concerns regarding railway facility upgradation. He told Pune Pulse, “The early morning DEMU is crucial for school and college students, shift workers, and vendors traveling to Pune, Talegaon, Shivajinagar, Chinchwad, Lonavala, and Mumbai. Passengers now have to travel from Hadapsar to Pune station to catch alternative trains, like the Pragati Express, which departs at 7:50 AM, or the Shivajinagar-Lonavala local at 8:10 AM. With no other trains available during this time, passengers are forced to rely on expensive private transport, with rickshaw fares reaching up to ₹200.”
Expressing her concern on Twitter, MP Sule urged the Railways to promptly extend the DEMU service to Pune station to alleviate the hardships faced by commuters. She warned that failure to address this issue would compel her to stage a protest against the Railway administration.
The Divisional Railway Manager Pune in the tweet on the X handle to the query raised stated, “Train No. 01522 Daund-Hadapsar DMU is being terminated at Hadapsar station which is having facilities required for coaching terminal. This has been done to decongest Pune station. However, feasibility for it’s extension to Pune station is being examined in view of public demand.”
