MP Swati Maliwal Raises Concern Over Arbitrary Fee Hikes By Private Schools, Calls For Stricter Laws  

In a significant intervention during the parliamentary session yesterday, Member of Parliament Swati Maliwal raised concerns over the arbitrary fee hikes imposed by many private schools every year. 

She highlighted how these unregulated increases in school fees are turning education into a financial burden for ordinary families.

Maliwal also pointed out that parents are often compelled to purchase books, notebooks, and uniforms at inflated prices directly from the schools, further straining their household budgets.

Emphasizing that education is a service and not a business, she urged all state governments to implement stringent laws to regulate private school fees and associated charges, ensuring transparency and affordability in the education sector.
