Pune: In a rare feat, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has provided 12,000+ electricity connections to applicants across Pune district in just 10 days.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Rajendra Pawar, Chief Engineer, MSEDCL Pune said, “About 10-15,000 new electricity connections are approved each month in the Pune region. In just ten days, we completed the process of providing 12,296 new connections.”

As per information, Lokesh Chandra, Chairman and Managing Director of MSEDCL, gave officials the order to clear the pending applications. In just ten days, a record 1.04 lakh electricity connections were installed throughout the state thanks to the work’s aggressive approach. During a meeting on June 20, chief engineers from various state zones reviewed pending applications. With 8,915 applications for electricity connections processed, the Baramati zone came in third for most power connections established in the Pune zone.

As part of a state-wide effort to approve 1.04 lakh new connections, MSEDCL Pune approved 12,296 new connections out of more than 15,000 pending applications between June 20 and June 30.

In the Pune zone, which includes Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad, and seven tehsils, Mulshi, Maval, Haveli, Velhe, Ambegaon, Junnar, and Khed, there are approximately 35 lakh MSEDCL customers.
