MSRDC To Develop 117 Villages Along Pune Ring Road Project
In a major initiative to ease traffic congestion in Pune, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has undertaken the Pune Ring Road project. Alongside the road development, MSRDC will now oversee the comprehensive development of 117 villages adjacent to the project. Two economic development centers will be established in these villages, as per the plan. The Urban Development Department issued a notification regarding MSRDC’s appointment as the Special Planning Authority for these villages on October 10.

The Pune Ring Road project, spanning 172 kilometers with a width of 112 meters, aims to resolve traffic bottlenecks in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. The tender process for the project has been completed, and a special entity named MSRDC Pune Ring Road Limited (MPRRL) has been set up to execute the project.
The development of the 117 villages along the Ring Road will now be spearheaded by MSRDC. A proposal to establish economic development centers in these villages was submitted by MSRDC to the Urban Development Department. The areas under the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) will benefit, with one center planned for 62 villages in Haveli, Bhor, and Purandar talukas, and another for 55 villages in Haveli, Mulshi, and Velhe talukas.
