Mucormycosis patients to be treated free of cost under Mahatma Phule Jan Aarogya Yojana

After the surge in Covid19 cases, Maharashtra state is grappling with the increasing number of Mucormycosis cases among patients who have recovered or are active Covid19 patients. 

For the past few weeks there have been several cases across the state where Mucormycosis has been reported. This deadly fungal infection is causing severe complications among patients who are suffering from eye disorders, jaw replacement, neuro problems, dental issues etc. 
The treatment for this surgery is costly as it requires help on multiple levels such as dental, ENT, neuro care. 

To release the burden of the patients, Minister for health, Maharashtra government, Rajesh Tope has announced that patients suffering from Mucormycosis can be treated free of cost through the Mahatma Phule Jan Aarogya Yojana. 

In his tweet he said, “Several districts in the state have reported about this fungal infection and the state government has taken the steps in spreading the information among patients about it so that it can be dealt early. Also, patients will be treated free of cost through Mahatma Phule Jan Aarogya Yojana.” 

The official statement from the state government shall be soon announced shortly.
