Multiple activities at school buildings not allowed: Patil

While some school buildings are used as aadhar centres or senior citizen counselling centres, some are also rented out to the public.

Rajesh Patil, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation commissioner and administrator, has issued orders to the education department to only use school building for educating children and not for other activities except municipal elections.

There are 105 primary schools and 18 secondary schools run by the civic body in PCMC. It has been found out that students had to bear the brunt as other activities were taking place in classrooms. In many schools, classes were combined as there was scarcity of rooms.

“Education should not suffer at any cost and buildings should be dedicated only to educational activities. The building can be used for election purposes but not for other activities,” Rajesh Patil PCMC commissioner and administrator said.
