Security was tightened outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence in Mumbai after unidentified persons opened fire near his building in the Juhu area on Sunday, February 1. Police officials confirmed that multiple gunshots were fired outside the residential tower. No injuries were reported, and the filmmaker was inside his home at the time of the incident.

According to the police, four rounds were fired from outside the premises. Soon after the firing, personnel from the Juhu police station reached the spot and cordoned off the area. Additional police forces were deployed around the building as a precautionary measure.

A senior police official said forensic and ballistic teams were called to examine the site. Empty bullet shells were recovered from outside the building and sent for analysis. The motive behind the firing is still unclear, and investigators are looking into all possible angles.

Crime Branch teams have also joined the investigation. Multiple police units have been formed to identify and trace those involved. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being scanned to determine the number of assailants and track their movements before and after the incident. Police are also trying to establish how the attackers reached the spot and the route they used to escape.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone IX) Dikshit Gedam confirmed that Rohit Shetty was present inside his residence when the shots were fired. He said the firing appeared to be aimed at the building and not at any individual in public view. He added that zonal police and Crime Branch teams are jointly probing the case.

A case has been registered against unidentified persons under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act. Statements of security staff and residents of the building are also being recorded as part of the ongoing investigation.
