Mumbai Bank Manager Jumps into Sea from Atal Setu Amid Alleged Work Pressure, Search Underway
A bank manager reportedly jumped into the sea from Mumbai’s Atal Setu bridge on Monday morning, sparking an extensive search operation. The Sewri police, along with other rescue teams, have been deployed to locate the 40-year-old, identified as Sushant Chakravarty, a manager at a public sector bank.
The incident occurred at around 9:57 a.m. when Chakravarty parked his red Maruti Brezza on the southbound side of the Atal Setu, part of the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, and then jumped into the sea, according to the police. Senior Police Inspector leading the investigation, said, “We received information from the traffic department and immediately dispatched teams to the scene.”
Upon inspecting Chakravarty’s vehicle, police confirmed his identity and learned that he resided in Parel with his wife and daughter. When contacted, Chakravarty’s wife revealed that he had been under significant work-related stress. “During the inquiry, his wife told us he had been facing tremendous work pressure.
Chakravarty had been working at the bank’s Hutatma Chowk branch in Fort. Over the weekend, he had taken his family on a short trip to Lonavala, but on Monday, instead of heading to the office, he drove to Atal Setu and jumped off the bridge.
Police are continuing their investigation into the incident, including a search of Chakravarty’s mobile phone. However, no suicide note has been found so far.
The search operation for Chakravarty remains ongoing as authorities attempt to locate him in the sea.
