Mumbai Businessman Claims Traffic Cops Towed His Electric Car While Charging

Pune : A video has gone viral on social media in which a car driver in Mumbai has alleged that the traffic police have wrongly issued a challan against his vehicle while it was getting charged at an Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station near Mantralaya.
As per further information from the X handle of the car owner Prabhat Tiwari “Car was put on the charging point & they (police) dragged it and issued a challan, saying it’s at no parking. How rubbish is this as how a charging point is meant to be no parking place? Farzi challan and then vasooli, no one there to help.”
In the video, Prabhat Tiwari is heard saying “My car was put on charging at an EV charging station. The police have forcefully dragged my car from the charging station. The force was so much that the charging pin of the charging point was stuck on the wheel of my car. The police threatened me that several people come here daily to do this. As the charging pin is stuck in my car, if any damage happens to my car, it must be incurred from the police officer’s salary. If it is a no-parking area, why has a charging point been created there in the first place?”
Prabhat Tiwari has further attached a screenshot of the challan issued by the police on X & has demanded a refund & strict action against the police officer.
To this complaint, the Mumbai Traffic Police responded on X “We are sharing your concern to the Traffic Division for necessary stringent action.”
