Mumbai : Byculla’s Veer Mata Jijabai Zoo welcomes three Humboldt penguins

Today, three young penguins were officially named at Rani Bagh, during the celebrations for the 161st anniversary of the Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Botanical Garden and Zoological Museum.

As per the information provided, the penguins, named Coco, Stella, and Jerry, were introduced along with their parents.

Coco, a female penguin, was born on April 27, 2023, to Moult and Flipper.

Stella, another female penguin, was born on May 23, 2023, to Poppy and Olive.

Lastly, Jerry, a male penguin, was born on June 27, 2023, to Donald and Daisy.

These celebrations included the inauguration of an exhibition at the Botanical Garden and Zoological Museum, featuring a diverse range of flora, fauna, and various species of desert shrubs. Project Mumbai also contributed by donating and installing 15 plastic benches within the zoo to enhance visitor convenience. In addition, five wheelchairs were delivered to the Manrao Charitable Trust to improve tourist accessibility, while gardeners involved in The Mumbai Zoological Museum’s fertilizer project were recognized for their outstanding performance.

The Mumbai Zoological Museum also unveiled a promotional video for Sylvan Forest, a new series that explores the plant and animal life found in six out of the seven volumes of the world.
