Pune: According to reports, the occupancy rate of Vande Bharat trains on the Shirdi-CSMT route experienced a decline of 65 per cent.

Recent statistics spanning 15 days revealed that the Shirdi CSMT Vande Bharat train had a booking rate of 65 per cent, whereas the CSMT-Shirdi route boasted an occupancy rate of 82.66 per cent. The decrease in occupancy for the Shirdi-CSMT Vande Bharat train is noteworthy, as it usually maintains an occupancy rate of over 90 per cent.

As per the information provided, the possibility that the Diwali festival may have influenced travellers to travel to their hometowns could have affected the number of people visiting pilgrimage destinations such as Shirdi. Additionally, there has been a noticeable decrease in occupancy specifically on the train journey from Shirdi to CSMT, indicating that passengers may have chosen to explore different destinations after their visit to Shirdi.

During the same 15-day period, Vande Bharat trains transported a total of 68,736 passengers across multiple routes. The Central Railway (CR) has been running Vande Bharat trains on the Solapur, Goa Madgaon, Indore, Nagpur, and Bilaspur routes, and has observed higher occupancy rates on these routes compared to the Shirdi-CSMT route.
