In Edgware, north London, a loving grandmother, known for her unshakable commitment to family, passed away next to a bus stop. On Thursday morning, Anita Mukhey, 66, a devoted medical secretary in the National Health Service (NHS), from Pune, was fatally stabbed. Jalal Debella, 22, a resident of Colindale, has been accused of the killing.

Her bereaved family described her as a married mother and grandmother whose life revolved around her loved ones, in a statement sent through the Metropolitan Police. The statement begged for privacy on behalf of the family at this trying time.

Debella did not enter a plea when he was brought before the Willesden Magistrates’ Court. On Tuesday, he is expected to appear before the Old Bailey.

Authorities reacted quickly after the unfortunate incident, which took place on Thursday at Burnt Oak Broadway at approximately 11:50 BST. Mukhey succumbed to her injuries at the site even though medical attention was given to her knife wounds.

After a disturbing video of the event made its way across social media, the Metropolitan Police released a plea asking people not to share such upsetting content. They said that a few people have shared graphic footage of the incident on social media and added that it was quite upsetting for bereaved families. A police spokeswoman requested that these posts be removed and that others not share them.

The attack was described as an “isolated incident,” and the Met Police gave the assurance that no other suspects were being looked for.
