Pune: Residents of many residential societies in the Kausar Baug area like Hill View Residency, Bramha Exuberance, Kumar Pragati, Hill Mist Garden, etc are very afraid as many stray dogs remain in the society vicinity, premises etc, posing a threat to their safety.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Danish Makhdum, resident of Hill View Residency, Kausarbaug said, “Our society consists of several buildings in which around 40 to 45 stray dogs keep coming in the society premises. The dogs have bitten & attacked many kids in our society. This issue happens during the day as well as at night time. They leap onto residents’ vehicles in the society & damage them. Recently, a seat of a two-wheeler was torn apart by the dogs. These dogs pose a significant threat to us. This has become a big menace.”

Tausif Khan, another resident of Hill View Residency, Kausarbaug said, “This stray dog problem has been going on for a long time in our society. My child was bitten by stray dogs. In the evening and during night time, the dogs jump and run behind the vehicles leading to accidents. Around 10 to 12 stray dogs keep roaming & coming into our society all the time.”

Imran Bangi, another resident of Hill View Residency, Kausarbaug said, “The stray dogs threaten kids, senior citizens & everyone in our society. They keep coming in groups of as many as 10 to 12. When I was leaving the society for my workplace in the morning, around 15 stray dogs were present. This has become a big problem.”

Balasaheb Patil, PMC Hadapsar Ward Officer, said “The particular residential society can give a written application to us after which we will inform the dog squad, They will come to the area & resolve this.”
