A shocking crime has been committed by a medical professional. A doctor was apprehended for selling the newborn of blind parents for $50,000.

The 30-year-old physician, identified as A Dhoni from Kalyan, Mumbai, was subsequently arrested under the Juvenile Justice Act.

Kerrabai Rohit Gurav, 30, who already has two children, discovered she was pregnant with her third child when she was four months along. Initially, she contemplated an abortion due to financial constraints, but Dr. A Dhoni persuaded her to carry the baby to term.

As more information comes to light, it appears the couple had initially sought Dr. Dhoni’s help for an abortion. Facing financial difficulties, they felt unable to support another child. However, after the doctor’s encouragement, they decided to proceed with the pregnancy, as he assured them he would sponsor their children’s education and cover their hospital expenses.

“The doctor told me I couldn’t abort the baby. He said that his distant relative wanted to adopt it and assured me that he will cover my two children’s education expenses. However, on August 23, when I went to the hospital for delivery, he sent my family home, claiming that it will take another day for the delivery. But he performed the delivery around 11:30pm when no one was present and didn’t show us the baby,” says the mother.

Once the procedure was completed, Dr. Dhoni requested that the parents cover their expenses, contrary to the commitments he had made earlier.

This situation was subsequently reported to the Childcare Unit in Thane district.

A baby boy was born on August 23 at Ganapati Nursing Home, but Dr. Dhoni chose to keep the newborn apart from his parents for approximately eight to ten days.

As the matter gained attention, social workers stepped in, and the baby was eventually returned to the couple.

However, prior to this, the couple endured significant  emotional distress.

Initially, the doctor attempted to persuade them that the baby had not cried at birth and needed to be placed in an observation box. Ultimately, he confessed to selling the baby for 50,000.

He even promised to give the parents some money after taking his commission.

“We received a complaint from a blind couple and have registered a case against Dr Dhoni under Sections 81 and 82 of the JJ Act. We are currently investigating the matter, recording statements, and will add further charges if warranted, “ says the police.

Notably, Dr. Dhoni has refuted all such claims. He explained that the parents did not wish to keep the baby at birth, and therefore, he should not be held responsible.
