Mumbai-Goa Highway Reels Under Monsoon Fury: Landslides, Floods, Red Alert Paralyse Traffic, Raise Alarms
The Mumbai-Goa Highway is in crisis mode as relentless monsoon rains continue to trigger landslides, flash floods, and road blockages across the Konkan region. Several stretches of the highway have been shut down or restricted, posing serious safety risks to commuters and local residents alike.

Near Shastripul in Sangameshwar, a fresh landslide has led to the third highway closure in recent weeks. Locals blame stalled construction work, faulty planning, and poor-quality execution for the increasing vulnerability of the route. Just days earlier, a similar landslide buried three two-wheelers. Now, visible cracks have appeared near hillside homes, threatening lives.

In Khed, the Jagbudi River has overflowed, with floodwater entering market areas and surrounding a highway-side hotel. Rajapur is facing similar troubles, with both the Arjuna and Kodavali rivers in spate.
Meanwhile, a landslide near Pals village in Mangaon (Raigad district) caused a 3-km traffic snarl—worsened by an influx of monsoon tourists heading into the Konkan belt.
Cracks and Collapses Loom Large
