Fight broke out in a Wadala apartment when a 46-year-old woman allegedly faced assault from an Urban Company masseuse following the cancellation of a home massage appointment. The incident, which has been captured on a video circulating widely on social media, has drawn attention from both the public and authorities, prompting a police investigation into the events.

Shenaz S, a public relations professional living with her 18-year-old son, had booked a massage through the Urban Company app to relieve severe pain caused by a frozen shoulder. Her regular masseuse was unavailable, so the app assigned a different service provider for a 4:30 pm appointment.

Shenaz returned home around 3:30 pm and noticed that her usual MyGate security alert did not register the masseuse’s entry. She let the masseuse inside, who began setting up a significantly larger massage bed than the one typically used. When Shenaz requested moving the setup to the bedroom for privacy, the masseuse insisted on using the hall, which had large windows. Feeling uncomfortable, Shenaz decided to cancel the session and initiated a refund through the app.

According to Shenaz, the masseuse’s behavior escalated abruptly. She claimed that the masseuse began walking around the house while shouting abuses and became physically violent when asked to leave. Shenaz alleged that her hair was pulled, she was punched in the face, scratched on multiple parts of her body, and pushed to the floor. Her son, who tried to intervene, was also pushed.

Shenaz made multiple attempts to call the Mumbai Police helpline (100) but was advised to visit the Wadala police station. By the time police arrived, the masseuse had already left the premises.

The incident also raised concerns about security lapses. Shenaz discovered that the MyGate system did not log the masseuse’s entry, and the building’s guard confirmed the woman had entered while he was briefly distracted.

Urban Company reportedly responded late, with Shenaz receiving a call around 10 pm from someone claiming to be from the company’s head office. The company assured her that the partner involved would be removed from the platform. The massage session had cost Rs 1,584.

Police from Wadala TT station confirmed that a non-cognisable complaint (NC) has been registered. Due to the NC status, no further investigation will be carried out by the police unless the victim or the company takes the matter to court. Authorities also rectified a technical error related to the masseuse’s name on the complaint. Urban Company stated that it is cooperating fully with law enforcement and providing necessary support.
