Mumbai–Pune Expressway Landslide: Debris Clearance In Full Swing, CM Fadnavis Urges Citizens To Avoid Non-Essential Travel
Pune, July 6, 2026: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has urged citizens to avoid non-essential travel on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway after a major landslide at the Missing Link project site disrupted traffic.
The Chief Minister said the administration is working on a war footing to clear the debris and restore normal traffic movement. Around 100 tonnes of debris had accumulated at the landslide site, which occurred in an area where such incidents had not been reported previously.

According to Fadnavis, nearly 70 tonnes of debris have already been removed, while efforts to clear the remaining material are progressing rapidly.
Traffic towards Pune has been restored on all three lanes. On the Mumbai-bound carriageway, vehicles are currently being allowed through a single lane, with authorities aiming to reopen additional lanes within the next one-and-a-half hours.
State Public Works Minister Shivendraraje Bhosale is present at the site to monitor the restoration work. Officials from the Public Works Department, emergency response teams, and other concerned agencies are coordinating efforts to expedite debris removal and ensure public safety.
The Chief Minister appealed to commuters to follow official advisories, adhere to traffic police instructions, and rely only on verified information issued by the authorities.
