Heavy Rainfall Hits Western Maharashtra
Rainfall figures have surged in several districts:
- Daund: 117 mm
- Baramati: 104.75 mm
- Indapur: 63.25 mm
- Phaltan: A staggering 163.5 mm
Floodwaters disrupted life in Baramati, partially damaging around 25 homes. Thanks to swift action, seven individuals trapped in flood-prone areas were safely rescued, and approximately 70 to 80 families were relocated to safer shelters.
“Emergency response teams must act quickly where damage is reported,” the CM ordered, highlighting the importance of rapid on-ground assessments.
In Phaltan, an NDRF team has been deployed, assisting around 30 people stranded near Dudhebavi village. Arrangements for food and shelter have been made. Solapur district also experienced substantial rainfall, and rescue operations in Pandharpur are underway after three people were found stranded in the Bhima riverbed.
Lightning Strikes and Road Closures in Raigad
In Raigad, one fatality was reported due to a lightning strike. Additionally, heavy rains led to the closure of the Mahad to Raigad Fort road. CM Fadnavis stressed the need for constant communication between the disaster management cell and district authorities.

Mumbai Reports 135.4 mm Rain in 24 Hours
Mumbai has already seen 135.4 mm of rainfall within a single day. Six incidents of waterlogging and multiple complaints of power-related short circuits—totaling 18 cases—have been reported. Moreover, five buildings reported partial wall collapses. Fortunately, no casualties have been recorded so far.
“All civic and emergency services including the BMC, fire brigade, and city police are fully mobilized,” said officials. Five NDRF teams are stationed across the city to offer immediate support if required.
Mobile networks, which were temporarily disrupted in a few areas, are gradually being restored.
Looking Ahead: Government Coordination and Public Safety
With the weather likely to worsen, CM Fadnavis has urged state agencies including the NDRF, SDRF, Home Department, and Water Resources Ministry to stay on standby. Control rooms have been activated, and coordination across departments has been intensified. “Ensure readiness for immediate response and relief,” the CM advised in his ongoing directives.
As the skies continue to threaten more rain, the spirit of resilience in Maharashtra stands tall. From fast-acting rescue teams to coordinated government efforts, every step is being taken to safeguard lives and property. While nature tests the region’s preparedness, the message from the top is clear—“Stay alert, stay safe, and act swiftly.”
