A Dubai-inspired jet car offering a luxury marine ride is drawing tourists as it cruises 1.8 nautical miles into the Arabian Sea.
Mumbai’s Juhu beach has a striking new attraction: a Rolls Royce-shaped jet car gliding across the Arabian Sea, instantly grabbing attention and pulling crowds to the shoreline. The watercraft, popularly referred to as the “car in the sea,” has quickly become one of Mumbai’s most talked-about leisure offerings, blending novelty with a luxury-themed seaside experience.
The craft resembles a high-end car from the outside but functions as a fully equipped marine vessel, carrying up to five people at a time. Operators say it travels nearly 1.8 nautical miles into the sea, offering visitors a smooth ride along the coastline. Inside, the vessel is fitted with plush seating, onboard music and even a shower facility so riders can rinse off after the salty spray.
The idea was brought to Maharashtra by Pramod Pawar, who first encountered similar luxury watercraft during a trip to Dubai. Inspired by what he saw, he returned with sketches and a plan to recreate the concept for local waters. His vision, supported by his team, has now taken shape at Juhu. According to Vijay, the manager, the aim is simple: to let people enjoy an international-style experience without travelling abroad.
Pawar believes this is only the beginning of a larger marine-sports wave for the state. He hopes that more such innovations will follow and emphasises that government support will play a key role in expanding homegrown adventure tourism. Encouraging local entrepreneurs, he says, will help bring more sports and attractions to the coastline and boost visitor footfall.
