Speaking more about getting clearance from the forest department for reducing the height of the road and also widening it, Prabhag 26 Corporator Nanda Lonkar said, “Several fatal accidents have taken place on this stretch of the road. The residents insisted that the height of the road should be reduced so that heavy vehicles and two wheelers will not have any problem in driving. Hence, we were following up with the Forest Department for allowing us to widen as well as reduce the height of the road. This was only possible due to the co-operation extended by the Forest department as well as PMC. I am hoping that the work gets approved soon and we begin with the actual widening of the road. The total width of the road after widening it will make it a 24 meter wide road while it will be reduced by 3 meters in its height.”

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Rahul Patil, deputy conservator of forest said, “Forest department shall send the proposal to the state government for further approval. We shall positively work towards the betterment of the area. My visit to the area was to look after the work done by the members of Anandvan Mitra Mandal in Anandvan Forest, remove the encroachments as well as the road widening issue.”
