Corporator promises to organise more such religious programmes

Thousands of devotees from Pimpri Chinchwad attended the birth anniversary celebrations of ‘Shrimad Bhagavad Gita’ organized on the occasion of Margashirsha Shukla Ekadashi.

The grand religious gathering was organised by Nirmalatai Kutte Social Foundation and ISKCON temple, Vishal Nagar.

The Rajmata Jijau park on Kunal Icon road thronged with thousands of devotees on Monday morning.

Chinchwad Assembly election chief of Bharatiya Janata Party Shankar Jagtap; Pratibha Mahila Pratishthan president Ashwini Jagtap; Former Mayor Usha Dhore; Pimpri Chinchwad Employees’ Federation President Baban Zinjurde; State Chief Coordinator of Indian Ministry of Social Justice and Employment Omkar Joshi; Ex-Corporator Shatrughan Kate and other leaders like Chandrakant Nakhate , Aartitai Chondhe, Zamatai Barne, Ushatai Mundhe, Bhartitai Vinode, Kundatai Bhise, Kalyani Shelar, Udayojak Sanjay Bhise, Vijay Bhise, Arun Chabukswar, Sandesh Kate, Bhanusad Kate and Rajesh Patil were present on the occasion.

The ceremony started with the lighting of the traditional lamp by dignitaries and the hymn ‘Hare Rama, Hare Krishna’ was sung by ISKCON devotees. Then Mr. Vrindavan Prabhu of ISKCON delivered a discourse on ‘Gita Saar’ in his excellent voice. On this occasion, he spoke about the unique importance of Bhagavad Gita verses and Abhanga of Tukaram Maharaj in human life.

On this occasion, prominent dignitaries like Shankar Jagtap, Baban Zinjurde, Shekhar Kute, Samarth Jambhulkar, Hiranya Joshi and other 20 people were weighed. On this occasion, the organizers said that 2000 Bhagavad Gita equal to the weight of these dignitaries will be donated to school students in the villages of the district. Also, a quiz programme was organized for the devotees present on this occasion. A copy of Bhagavad Gita was also given as a prize to the devotees who answered the questions correctly. Devotees also visited the book stall set up on behalf of the ISKCON temple.

Expressing her gratitude on the occasion, the main organizer of the programme, corporator Ms. Nirmalatai Kute said that Shrimad Bhagavad Gita is a universal book and its birth anniversary is celebrated with great enthusiasm all over the world. She also expressed her resolve to celebrate many such religious festivals in a similar manner in the future too.

Meanwhile, youth leader Sanket Kute expressed his gratitude to all those who supported the event, the dignitaries present and all the devotees for attending the event. The programme culminated with the distribution of Mahaprasad.
