For the past few weeks, Pune Pulse has been raising issue regarding traffic congestion caused by unauthorised parking between Amba Vatika to Dorabjee Enclave (Medico Point to Sairam General Stores) and Supreme Classic to Raj Homes society, NIBM road chowk.

When Pune Pulse had raised the issue with the Kondhwa Police station (traffic department), prompt action was taken by the Police staff by fining people who violated rules and caused obstruction to other vehicles.

The local residents raised this issue with the Pune City Traffic Police’s Kondhwa division regarding the nuisance caused by haphazard parking. To resolve the issue, Pune City Traffic Police is inviting suggestions and objections from the residents living in the nearby societies regarding implementation of ‘No Parking’ on both sides of the road in this stretch.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic Rahul Shrirame in his letter has asked citizens from the nearby societies to send in their suggestions and objections to the Pune City Traffic Police Headquarters in Yerwada. The letters can be sent to the below mentioned address, he added.

Pune Pulse spoke to Deepali Chavan, chairman, Kubera Garden society which is located on this stretch, she said, “This is the best move. We would recommend it, as it is difficult to cross the road due to this haphazard parking which happens till Kwality Sapphire at times due to the vaccination center. We had also requested to the Pune Municipal Corporation in the past about constructing speed breakers as many school buses ply on this stretch. We are hoping that Traffic Police department takes prompt action towards it.”

Girish Samangadkar from Parmar Residency said, “In fact, Traffic Police should install speed breakers and control the over speeding vehicles. Also, if No Parking is initiated what will the visitors do who will come for shopping at the shops which are present on this road ? The internal lanes would get crowded because of this ‘No Parking’.”

Jamshed Karkaria, treasurer, Nivedita Garden Condominium said, “Though the decision is right, it will add more traffic in Anandpur Charitable Trust Lane, Nivedita Garden. We will definitely welcome it if violators are fined for parking haphazardly.”
