November Heat Likely to Dominate Maharashtra as Minimum Temperatures Stay Above Normal, Says IMD
Warmer nights, mild winter, and chances of unseasonal rain expected across the state this month
Mumbai, November 2, 2025: The much-awaited winter chill may give Maharashtra a miss this year, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting warmer-than-usual nights and a rise in minimum temperatures across the state. Weather experts warn that “November heat” could dominate most parts of Maharashtra, bringing a mild winter and a few spells of unseasonal rain.
According to IMD data, minimum temperatures in Maharashtra are expected to remain 1–2°C above the seasonal average, hovering around 17°C instead of the usual 15°C. Maximum temperatures could also touch 34°C, making the days feel unusually warm for November. The forecast indicates that while daytime temperatures may stay slightly below average in some parts of central and northwestern India, the overall warmth will persist due to elevated night-time temperatures.
Senior meteorologist Krishnanand Hosalikar shared that except for a few pockets in southern Konkan, most regions of Maharashtra will experience higher minimum temperatures this month. “The state is likely to witness a mix of warm weather and intermittent unseasonal rainfall throughout November,” he said.
The unusual pattern follows an eventful October that saw two cyclones — Shakti over the Arabian Sea and Montha over the Bay of Bengal — bringing widespread rainfall to parts of the state. This year has also been meteorologically rare, marking the first time since 2012 that no cyclones formed between January and September.
Meteorologists attribute the current weather trend to active La Niña conditions, which could lead to cloudy skies and scattered showers in some regions. With the November heat setting in early, Mumbaikars and residents across Maharashtra may have to wait longer for the familiar winter chill to return.
