Pune: Starting in January next year, Pune airport flyers will have the convenience of purchasing Pune metro tickets directly at the airport itself.

As per the information received, Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd. (PMPML) has been approached to arrange bus services between the airport and the Ramwadi metro station. Passengers can take a feeder bus from the airport to the Ramwadi metro station for their final destination.

Efforts are being made to increase the number of buses plying between Ramwadi and Lohegaon Airport, and work is being expedited on the remaining four metro stations between Ruby Hall and Ramwadi.

As per the information received, efforts are being made to appoint new operators for the service, while discussions with PMPML to increase the number of buses for the 2km distance between Ramwadi and Lohegaon airport are also underway.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Dhairyashil Vandekar, aviation analyst and expert added, “The feeder bus connectivity process may become arduous, despite efforts to achieve seamless connectivity, resulting in increased traffic congestion as commuters switch between bus and metro. This can cause significant inconvenience for travellers carrying heavy luggage, repeatedly loading and unloading it. To address this issue, I have written a letter to PM Modi requesting the extension of metro connectivity directly to the airport from Ramwadi Junction, with a separate corridor dedicated to this purpose.”
