PCMC bags first prize at Urban Mobility Conference 2023

Pune: The Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India, asked municipal corporations, metro corporations, and bus corporations to submit innovative topics in urban transport departments for the Urban Mobility India Conference 2023.

As per the information provided, on August 25, 2023, an application was submitted to the Ministry of Urban Development, requesting supplementary facilities such as cycle paths and footpaths in the Pimple Saudagar area, Sangvi-Kiwale road, and Nashik-Phata Wakad Road. This application also highlighted the implementation of the no-vehicle use (NMT) policy by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) from all across India, along with the corresponding efforts made by the corporation.

As per the information received, on October 29, 2023, the PCMC was awarded the first prize among several cities in India. The award was presented to Shekhar Singh, Municipal Commissioner, PCMC by Manoj Joshi, Secretary of the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India, during the 16th Urban Transport Development Conference held at the Manik Shaw Centre in Delhi.

The event was attended by Pramod Ombhase, Joint City Engineer, Bapusaheb Gaikwad, Executive Engineer, Sunil Pawar, Deputy Engineer, Pranjal Kulkarni, ITDP and Ashik Jain,  Design School Director.
