OnePlus is ready to refresh its mid-range lineup once again, and the buzz is all about the upcoming Nord CE 5. With a launch anticipated in May 2025, the device is expected to fall under the Rs 25,000 price bracket, continuing OnePlus’s tradition of delivering value-packed smartphones. A recent leak has now shed light on what the phone might look like — and it’s quite the departure from its predecessor, the Nord CE 4.

A Design Inspired by Premium Phones

The most eye-catching change is found on the back of the phone. According to a leak published by Smartprix, the Nord CE 5 adopts a flat frame and back panel, ditching the slightly curved aesthetic of the previous model. The rear design is minimalist, featuring the familiar OnePlus logo at the center, but what really stands out is the dual-camera module placed at the top left.

The cameras sit vertically in two prominent rings housed within an oval cutout, a design that closely mirrors the rumored layout of the upcoming iPhone 16. Nestled between the lenses is a tiny dot — possibly a sensor or a secondary mic — with an LED flash next to it.

Interestingly, this camera styling isn’t unique to OnePlus. Other BBK Electronics brands, such as OPPO’s K13 and the expected OnePlus 13T, have adopted a similar oval design. That said, the Nord CE 5 keeps things clean and understated. The leaked renders don’t reveal much about color options, leaving room for surprises in the final product.

Performance and Power

Beyond looks, the Nord CE 5 is shaping up to be a strong performer in its category. Leaks hint at a 6.7-inch Full HD+ OLED display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, ideal for content consumption and gaming. Under the hood, it’s expected to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 — the same chipset found in devices like the Oppo Reno 13 Pro and Realme P3 Ultra.

But the standout spec might just be the battery. OnePlus is reportedly packing a massive 7,100mAh battery, a significant step up from the 5,500mAh in the Nord CE 4. Charging should be quick too, with support for 80W fast charging.

Thanks to silicon-carbon battery technology, the larger battery might not add too much weight or thickness to the phone. This innovation has already shown promise in other phones like those from iQOO, offering extended battery life without compromising on design.

Additional Specs

Rounding out the spec sheet, the Nord CE 5 is expected to offer 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. It will likely include a hybrid SIM slot, allowing for either two SIMs or one SIM and a microSD card, and a single-speaker setup.

While official details are yet to be confirmed by OnePlus, the Nord CE 5 is already drawing attention for its bold design shift and battery-centric approach. If priced competitively, it could be a solid contender in the sub-25K segment this year.
