Pune: The mass bandh of food delivery & cab services such as Ola, Uber, Swiggy, and Zomato is getting a good response in various areas of Pune & Chinchwad with the companies keeping their services closed.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Dr Keshav Kshirsagar, President, Baghtoy Rickshawala Association, Pune said, “70% to 80% cabs & rickshaws of Ola & Uber as well as Swiggy & Zomato have shut their services in many parts of Pune & Chinchwad. Just like we had said earlier, around 10,000 vehicles of a company are provided to Ola, Uber, etc cab services to operate in Pune. However, at least 40,000 vehicles are required. Due to this, the pricing of fares of the online cab & rickshaw services increases. The normal auto rickshaws are operating as it is without any disturbance.”

Kshirsagar further added that since last evening (24th October), Swiggy & Zomato have been trying to break the bandh by luring delivery persons with double or triple income. However, due to the union of workers, companies had to stop their services in various areas from Wednesday morning. In this way, temptations were being shown to the delivery persons by the online food delivery companies.

Kshirsagar further stated that all representatives of gig workers will approach the Pune District Collector & submit the request for the fulfillment of demands of the Ola, Uber, Swiggy, and Zomato workers. (Know the demands of all the food delivery & cab services workers here).
