A 15-year-old boy allegedly procured money from his parents’ bank account and used it for playing online games. The eight-grader used money from both his father’s and mother’s account and played the online rummy game for almost a month when he realised that he had spent Rs 10,000 on the game.

Fearing that he would be questioned by his parents, he eloped from the house. He was however spotted by the railway police, who detained him.

During interrogation, he spilled the beans about why he left home uninformed. The boy had planned to reach Mumbai.

The railway security force officials at the Pune railway station handed him over to the child Line. The officials at the child Line counselled the boy and explained about the consequences of his actions.

Rajveer Singh of Child Line said that boy was handed over to the family in front of the child welfare committee.

During the period from April 2022 to August 2022, a total of 267 children (across India) who eloped from the house have been found. They have been safely handed over to their families by RPF and Saathi Railway ChildLine. There were 213 boys and 54 girls in it, informed Rajveer Singh.

Children should be educated to stay away from trouble-creating online games, say experts. Even if they commit such mistakes, they have to bring it to the notice of their parents immediately, they add.
