Surge in Covid19 cases has led to a rise in demand for Plasma too. But sadly, lack of adequate knowledge among Covid 19 recovered patients has led to acute shortage of plasma in the city.

In order to bridge the gap between the donors and patients, Pune Youth Wing (Women) of Nationalist Congress Party handed over a letter to the Pune Municipal Corporation Commissioner Vikram Kumar requesting him to open a plasma cell in the PMC.

Manali Bhilare while speaking to Pune Pulse said, “The present situation in Pune is quite critical. The patients needing plasma are running from pillar to post in search of plasma donors. In this fight, many patients have lost their lives. We requested PMC to utilise their technical team which is already functioning. They have an existing dashboard where the Plasma donors information can be made available. Also, they have huge data of people who fought the battle against Covid19, which is not easily available in case of Blood Banks. The tele callers at the control room can easily connect with the patients who have recovered from Covid19. Commissioner Vikram Kumar appreciated our initiative and has assured us to help in making it available soon. We are hoping that this works out soon and many patients are benefitted from this.”

The letter was handed over by Manali Bhilare, Western Maharashtra, Nationalist Congress Party (Youth Wing), leader of opposition Deepali Dhumal, corporator Bhaiyyasaheb Jadhav, Snehal Shingare, Geetanjali Sarage, Sonali Gade, Shivani Malvadkar, Veena Katre and Rutuja Shirke.
