Over 1000 foeticide cases in two years in Karnataka; CM orders probe

Pune: The Karnataka state government has entrusted the investigation of the female foeticide cases to the Crime Investigation Department (CID). Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has issued an order in this regard.

As per further information, for the past week, the cases of female foeticide in Mysore and Mandya were trending.

In the preliminary investigation, the police found documents & evidence showcasing that more than 1000 foeticide cases are likely to have occurred in two years. A police team raided an Ayurvedic Day Care Center at Udayagiri (Mysore), where the foeticide cases allegedly took place, and locked down the daycare center permanently.

Police informed that the doctor of the daycare center tried to destroy documents & evidence. Later, when the doctor’s house was searched, the hospital register was found in which all details regarding the foeticide cases were there. Rs 25 to 30 thousand/case were fixed for foeticide. Nine people have been arrested and sent to jail. Action is on to nab other fugitive accused.
