Over 77 Govindas injured in Dahi Handi Festival

Atleast 77 Govindas participated in the formation of human pyramids as part of the auspicious Dahi Handi utsav in Mumbai. While,11 Govindas were injured in the Thane city too. 

As per the information provided, of these, nine were admitted to Kalwa Hospital and four were admitted to Thane District Government Hospital for treatment.

 As per the information received, one of the injured female Govinda sustained spine injury, and she was immediately transferred to a private hospital in Mumbai. It has been reported that one of the person’s hand was fractured, while the others sustained minor injuries. 

All of them received first aid and were discharged home. The injuries occurred during the Dahi Handi festival in Thane city.

The injured Govindas have been identified as Aniket Anil Mendkar (res. Chirag Nagar, Thane), Akshay Kadu (25), Narendra Dhamanrao Valmik from Mulund East, Piyush P. Lala (18), Somnath Subhash Suryavanshi (27), Kedar Pawar (28), Gaurav Vishnu Chaudhary (20), Chaitanya Hemant Dhoble (21) of Kalyan, Akash Jaychant Chavan (20) of Digha,  Aniket Khode of Kanjoor Marg (21), Archana Khairmar (37) of Jogeshwari, Rahul Kedare (29) of Goregaon, and Prithvi Panchal of Virar. They were admitted to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa.

The local authorities are urging citizens to exercise caution and follow safety guidelines during the festival. These incidents have been reported on behalf of the concerned authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of the public.
