Pune: During the National Lok Adalat held on December 9, a total of 83,817 cases were resolved. Out of these, 33,359 cases were pending while 50,458  cases were in pre-litigation stage. 

This event was organized under the supervision of the National Legal Services Authority in New Delhi, and the Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority at the High Court Bombay,  Pune District Legal Services Authority (PDSLA), guided by Principal District and Sessions Judge and PDSLA Chairman, KP Nandedkar. 

Sonal Patil, the secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, proudly stated that Pune district has consistently held the top position in successfully resolving the highest number of cases in Lok Adalats. As per the Legal Services Authority Act of 1987, the State, District Legal Services Authorities, and Taluka Legal Services Committees regularly organize Lok Adalats. Lok Adalat serves as an exceptional platform for the swift and cost-effective resolution of disputes. The court’s proactive approach and ability to ease the burden on the judiciary is evidenced by the successful solving of numerous cases in Lok Adalat. This phase plays a crucial role in reducing the backlog of cases and ensuring timely justice.

Patil, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, mentioned that the National Lok Adalat has received a positive response within the district. It has gained the support of all judicial officers, taluka legal associations, government and social organizations, as well as members, officers, and employees of the district legal services authority.
